Eagle-eyed Comic Relief viewers reckon they’ve sussed out the engagement of one presenter.

Last night, comedian Tom Allen, 41, joined the likes of AJ Odudu, Rylan Clark, Alison Hammond, and Jonathan Ross to host the charity extravaganza, which raised over £32million on its 40th anniversary.

But it wasn’t just the comedy sketches and celebrity performances that got people talking, as fans reckon a new accessory on Tom’s finger is a sign he’s got major news.

After noticing a band on his ring finger during Friday night’s broadcast, audiences took to X to speculate about possible wedding bells.

User @AshleyFromKent wrote: ‘Is that an engagement ring I spotted on @tomallencomedy?’

‘Congratulations if true. Alfie seems such a lovely man,’ he added sweetly.

Tom is in a relationship with Alfie Garston, who is in his mid-thirties. They share a home in Bromley and have done so since December 2023.

Alfie is believed to be a freelance host and performer for the Walt Disney Company, with his work taking him to Paris, Tokyo, and London.

He was also previously an actor for the Glad Rags Production Company.

Much like his other half, Alfie has dabbled in the world of TV as well. He was previously a runner for leading production company Fremantle.

It’s unknown how long they’ve been dating, but Tom and Alfie were first spotted in public together at a 2022 Halloween party hosted by fellow presenter Jonathan.

Alfie is believed to be the comic’s first official boyfriend, as he once admitted to not finding it ‘easy’ to get into relationships.

Speaking to iNews in 2019, the funny man confessed: ‘Maybe that’s why I like doing stand-up. I have people around me who I love, but ultimately, when you stand up there, you stand up there on your own.

‘So I suppose it lends itself to quite a solitary life.’

Then, in 2020, Tom told The Guardian it felt ‘impossible’ to form a ‘meaningful’ relationship that would go the distance.

‘I, for one, have never been in love, and so I feel, “Oh, that’s something else I can’t join in with”,’ he admitted.

Since introducing the world to Alfie, Tom has shared many pictures of them together on his Instagram, where he boasts over 600,000 followers.

Around last summer, the alleged engagement ring began appearing in Tom’s posts, and it’s been a prominent feature since, leading people to wonder whether a secret proposal happened a while back.

As well as his latest work on Comic Relief, Tom is known for touring as a support act with various comedians such as Sarah Millican, Josh Widdicombe, Michael McIntyre, and Romesh Ranganathan.

He made his stand-up debut on Live at the Appollo in 2017 and has featured on panel shows such as 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and Richard Osman’s House of Games.

Tom has also hosted Bake Off: The Professionals as well as The Apprentice: You’re Fired and Cooking with the Stars.

In 2024, the BBC aired Big Gay Wedding with Tom Allen to mark 10 years since same-sex marriage was legalised in Britain.

Reps for Tom Allen have been contacted for comment.
