The CEO of gaming PC maker Corsair claims to know when GTA 6 will be released on PC and it’s a lot sooner than many had dared hope.
It may seem surprising to some that GTA 6 is not currently scheduled for release on PC – only Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 – but most fans will know that’s actually perfectly normal for Rockstar Games.
GTA 5 didn’t get a PC version until more than two years after the original console launch and Red Dead Redemption 2 had to wait almost exactly a year. There’s no set pattern though, so that makes it very hard to guess when GTA 6 might arrive on PC.
According to Corsair CEO Andy Paul though it’s arriving in ‘early 2026’, which for Rockstar would be an unusually short gap between the console and PC versions.
Paul was speaking during Cosair’s fourth quarter earnings call, where he talked about customers ‘lining up to buy components from us’ and initially described GTA 6 on PC as being ‘likely a year away’.
Later on he added that, ‘My understanding now it’s going to come out in the fall for console, and then early ’26 for PC.’
Rockstar themselves has never mentioned a PC version but Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently confirmed that the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 versions were the priority and where most of the sales are expected to come from.
Although he also added that PC gaming is becoming, ‘a much more important part of what used to be a console business’, at around 40% of a multiformat game’s expected sales.
That means an early 2026 release is perfect feasible and that it shouldn’t be any longer than the 12 month wait for Red Dead Redemption 2.
Despite concern about the lack of a new trailer, Zelnick has repeatedly insisted that GTA 6 has not been delayed. Although a former Rockstar developer has suggested that a decision likely wouldn’t be taken on that until fairly late in the day.
Rockstar’s slow support for the PC has never really been explained but the company has always been very much against fan mods of its titles and will not want the distraction of worrying about that issue at the same time as the console launch.
It’s also likely that Rockstar simply want to put aside any non-essential work to ensure that there is no delay and, for now at least, that includes support for the PC.
