A hit new show on Netflix has racked up a whopping 9.8million views in only five days, knocking Adolescence from the platform’s rankings.

Bad Influence: The Dark Side of Kidfluencing shows a behind-the-scenes look at child stars who are claiming they were abused as they made viral videos.

The three-part series takes place in Los Angeles and focuses on video creator Piper Rockelle Smith, 17.

It also shows the teeanagers who participated in her playful social media posts who say her mother, Tiffany Smith, mistreated them.

In January 2022, 11 different teenagers sued Ms Smith, alleging that they were ‘frequently subjected to an emotionally, physically and sometimes sexually abusive environment’ according to the lawsuit, Netflix outlined.

Just a few days after its release, the docu-series has surpassed Adolescence on the top 10 chart in the UK.

In just two weeks, the drama, co-written by Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne, achieved a staggering 66m views, becoming the most-watched UK series ever on the streaming platform.

Another breakout hit on Netflix this week has been the comedy series North by North, which dropped at the weekend.

The Canadian show stars Anna Lambe as Siaja, a young Inuk woman in the small fictional Arctic community of Ice Cove.

The eight episodes follow the ‘optimistic young woman as she embarks on a journey to reinvent herself in her tiny Arctic hometown, where everyone knows each other’s business’.

‘She must then navigate the unpredictable, and often hilarious, highs and lows that come with relationships, motherhood, a new job, and finding her own way.’

The Hollywood Reporter wrote in its review: ‘North of North is unassuming in its humour, only occasionally provoking full-on belly laughs or delivering memorably quotable lines. But I found, as I kept watching, that what was near-constant was the smile on my face.’

Bad Influence: The Dark Side of Kidfluencing is available to watch on Netflix.
