ITV star reveals she ‘feared being dropped from This Morning’ over pregnancy
She was 20 weeks pregnant when she landed the gig.

Sian Welby has revealed that she hid her pregnancy from This Morning bosses over fears that she would be dropped from the presenting team.
The TV host and radio presenter gave birth to her daughter Ruby in June 2024, who she shares with her radio producer fiancé Jake Beckett.
The 38-year-old announced the news in February last year, with just four months left in her pregnancy, weeks after joining the presenting team on This Morning.
Now Sian has revealed that she kept her pregnancy a secret from the programme because she was worried about losing her brand new TV position.
‘When you first start a job, you think “Nobody knows what I’m actually like, that I’m trustworthy” and you have to prove yourself,’ she told Giovanna Fletcher on her Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast.
‘I felt like I had proven myself [on This Morning], that I can do this and that – when I got that first cover with Dermot [O’Leary], I knew I was pregnant but I didn’t tell anyone.’

‘So many women must feel [the same way] in any job, especially if they’re starting a new one. It’s the fear that you’re going to be immediately judged or dropped or they’ll ask why you didn’t tell them.’
Sian then revealed she was 20 weeks pregnant during her days on This Morning and that the truth nearly came out when a pair of trousers ordered onto the ITV show for her ‘came in a bit small’.

Earlier this year, Sian spoke to The Sun and revealed that she’d had ‘dark thoughts’ about being replaced after finding out she was pregnant.
‘I worried I would be off for a month and they would decide someone else is better and then they would replace me. Those are the dark thoughts you have.’
She explained that the thought probably ‘put her off’ from thinking about having kids earlier in her life.

Appearing via video link, she told presenters Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley that she felt ‘delirious’ at the time.
She added: ‘I’m tired, I’m delirious, but it is the best thing I’ve ever done, and I’m just absolutely over the moon, I’m in love. I’m loving every second, despite it being absolute carnage.
‘You can’t believe that you’re meeting them. Jake was filming me at the time when I held her, and I said, “I can’t believe I’m meeting you, it feels like a dream.”’
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
