Lego Jurassic Park T-Rex skeleton is a bona fide marvel

Harken back to when dinosaurs ruled the Earth (Lego) A new Lego-built dinosaur has been unveiled for adult fans of Jurassic Park and this one is the most anatomically correct so far – even without its skin on. Everyone loves dinosaurs, so it’s no surprise that they’ve been a big part of Lego since forever, although for the last decade many of the sets have been official Jurassic World tie-ins. Most of them have been sets aimed more at kids, with dinosaurs made out of a small number of specially moulded parts, but there have also been more complex sets, usually themed around the earlier Jurassic Park movies, and this new one is looking like the best yet. Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex is a massive 33 cm high and more than 1 metre long, recreating the entire T-Rex skeleton from the end of the first Jurassic Park film, in as scientifically accurate a manner as Lego bricks will allow. The model is the largest Jurassic World set ever made and has articulated joints, a moveable head, an opening jaw, and posable arms and tail. Also included are two minifigures: Dr Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) and Dr Alan Grant (Sam Neill) dressed as they were at the beginning of the film at their dig site. A fully posable, brick-built skeleton (Lego) There’s even a little dig diorama, next to a plaque describing the skeleton, as well as hidden references to the film, such as a piece of amber. The coffee table style instruction book includes plenty of Tyrannosaurs Rex dinosaur facts, and film trivia, to explain the details of the model and the real-life skeletons it’s based on. The set contains 3,145 Lego pieces and will be available from the Lego website and Lego stores from March 15 for £219.99. Or if you’re a Lego Insider (which requires only a free sign-up) you can get early access from March 12. If all that’s a bit beyond your budget, or you just can’t wait, there’s already two smaller Dinosaur Fossils sets, with a T. rex Skull for £34.99 and a Triceratops Skull for £39.99. These are very much in the same style and come with a *fossilised* footprint for the Tyrannosaurs Rex and a dig site plate and mini-fossils, with a minifigure, for the Triceratops The new movie Jurassic World Rebirth, starring Scarlett Johansson, will be out this summer and that will no doubt bring with it a number of official tie-ins sets. Although nothing is likely to be as big or complicated as this new brick-built skeleton. You also get two minifigures and a plaque (Lego) Got a story?
