February being the month of Valentine’s Day is a great time to find that perfect match – both in love and in games!

In the spirit of February 14, what better way to celebrate this day of love than by diving into engaging matching games?

Valentine’s Day has long been associated with themes of love, connection, and companionship. This holiday, rooted in ancient Roman and medieval traditions, has evolved from a feast honouring St Valentine to a global celebration of romance and affection.

While most people express their love through heartfelt gestures, cards, chocolates, and flowers, games can also be a pleasurable way to embrace the spirit of the season.

Whether you’re just a beginner only starting with a mahjong solitaire guide or an expert with multitudes of solved puzzles under your belt, there’s always a perfect match game waiting for you.

Check these out on Metro’s Free Games page.

Arkadium’s Tile Match Flowers

This tile-matching game could be one of the most entertaining games you’ll ever have played. The game starts simply enough. There are two matching tiles of flower images you can match and clear from the board.

But then you start noticing that while one floral shape matches the other, the background or the centre does not. You quickly learn that this game is not just about matching the flowers, but also the background pattern and the centerpiece. Fun, fun, fun.

Mahjongg Solitaire

Mahjongg Solitaire is a classic matching game in which you must pair the same tiles with each other to clear the board. The tricky bit is discerning which Chinese-style symbols are the same. The time element adds more challenge and gives you a heightened sense of urgency.

Mahjongg Candy

This is the same as the classic mahjong game, but instead of Chinese-style symbols, you get cute candy designs in the tiles. The mahjong tiles are arranged in unconventional shapes, so working from the outside can be challenging. Luckily, there’s a shuffle function if you need a fresh perspective.

Sweet Shuffle

There are more candies for Valentine’s Day with Sweet Shuffle. Match three candies to clear them from the board, but pay attention to wrapped candies as they collect more scores. Match four or match five to create powered-up candies that help you. However, the game limits how many moves you can make, so choose wisely.

Zoo Boom

Zoo Boom, a tile-matching game containing cute animal images, asks you to collect a certain number of animal tiles. This is another game where your moves are limited, so pick them wisely to maximise the number of tiles you collect. Watch out for a special-animals pairing; it causes a bonus reaction.

Trizzle

Trizzle is a surprisingly engaging matching game bearing the design of Russian matroyoshka dolls. Instead of moving the individual tiles, you must move lines vertically or horizontally to match the same three dolls – their colours and sizes must match. You can change the colour or size of the dolls or simply delete one that doesn’t match.

Crystal Collapse

Tap clusters of crystal in Crystal Collapse and fulfil the game’s request for a certain tile. The more crystals in a cluster that you tap, the more a power-up will appear to help you in your quest. It’s easy to fall into the trap of tapping on huge clusters without minding the game’s requested tile, so be careful with your move.

Bubble Shooter

Instead of moving tiles, you shoot bubbles to find the same-coloured ones and clear them from the board. For those who worry about aiming a bubble toward its friends, rest assured the game’s control is easy enough with a laptop’s pad or a mouse’s click.
