Fans have been left ‘screaming’ as Mariah Carey has been revealed as Brighton Pride’s official Saturday headliner for 2025.

The announcement comes five years after the chart-topping pop icon was forced to cancel her appearance at the festival due to Covid.

‘Mariah Carey, the Queen of the Lambs, is coming to Pride On The Park 2025! ????????,’ the official Instagram page posted with a short video from Mariah.

They added: ‘A performance we’ve been waiting five years for is finally upon us and we promise we’re going to make it worth the wait.’

In the short video, Mariah tells fans she wants to ‘make history together, darlings’ looking as glowing as ever in a red sequin dress.

‘See you at Pride on the Park 2025! I can’t wait to see all your beautiful faces,’ the Obsessed hitmaker continued.

‘It’s gonna be a scorcher… oh wait I didn’t get that right,’ she laughed as she opened up a fan printed with her face on it: ‘It’s gonna be a scorcha.’

‘We are beyond thrilled to have the global icon Mariah Carey headline Pride on the Park this year,’ the festival’s managing director Paul Kemp said. ‘We were so excited to have her join us in 2020 and absolutely gutted the show couldn’t go ahead due to pandemic restrictions that summer.’

Fans were, understandably, thrilled by the news as this will be Mariah’s first UK gig in over five years.

‘Oh my god, they’ve only gone and done it!!! I’m obsessed,’ wrote charlie_boyy21.

‘SHOOOOOOK,’ added mark.t.cox as gabe.ochoa joked he was: ‘Crying in high note! ????️‍????.’

Cestloui said: ‘this is the best thing you could’ve done ???????????? finally she’s coming!!!!’

Last year’s Pride in the Park saw Mika and Girls Aloud take the headline slot, with S-Club, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Billy Porter all on the lineup.

Tickets for Brighton Pride will be available from Thursday, February 20, at 10am with presale sign up open now.

The festival is scheduled to take place at Preston Park on August 2, with more acts yet to be announced.

Mariah was announced as the headliner in 2020 but the entire festival was axed as Covid lockdown began.

She last performed at the Royal Albert Hall in May 2019, giving three shows filled with her biggest hits from Emotions to We Belong Together.
