'It's absolute nonsense'.

Sorry Oasis fans, you’ll never see the Gallagher brothers perform a Super Bowl halftime show as Noel has branded it ‘absolute nonsense’.

Kendrick Lamar, 37, was this year’s chosen performer for the prestigious 15-minute slot as the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles went head-to-head.

The Not Like Us rapper had viewers reeling with guest stars SZA and Samuel L. Jackson, a crip walking cameo from Serena Williams, and Kendrick’s infamous ‘Say, Drake’ call out.

He made history as the first rapper to headline the show, which is now also the most-watched Super Bowl halftime performance of all time.

However, Noel, 57, wasn’t that impressed and even ‘had to switch it off’ and called the whole thing ‘absolute nonsense’.

Speaking to TalkSPORT, the Stop Crying Your Heart Out legend shared: ‘I didn’t watch it all, I just switched it off. There was like 300 people getting out of a car in the first two minutes’.

It wasn’t a personal attack on Kendrick’s performance though as Noel apparently never watches the popular music event.

‘No I don’t like the halftime nonsense, it’s usually artists I don’t like,’ he continued.

Last year saw Usher take the stage as headliner and 2023 gifted us Rihanna’s historic baby bump reveal in her red boiler suit.

Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Paul McCartney, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and Prince have all headlined in previous years.

Despite this iconic lineup, Noel revealed: ‘I never watch it, I’m not interested it.’

It could be a simple case of British football rivalry as he added: ‘Americans are taking over our sport, they’re taking over the Premier League, they’ll take over the Champions League, trust me, 20 years from now it will all be nonsense.’

While the Supersonic singer might not have watched, Kendrick’s performance has already gone down in history as one of the greatest of all time.

Over 133.5million viewers tuned in live to see the Humble rapper on stage, with a further 38million believed to have watched on social media.

The record was previously held by Michael Jackson in 1993 with 133.4m viewers for the live show.

Kendrick’s performance was packed full of symbolic imagery which many have taken as a protest of President Donald Trump, who was in attendance.

His dancers were dressed as the American flag while Samuel L. Jackson narrated the show in an Uncle Sam get up, mirroring his role in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained.

Then there was the Drake diss tracks.

Kendrick and the One Dance singer have been hurling barbs at each other for years, not unlike a certain formerly feuding Britpop band.

Last year saw the release of Not Like Us, a now five-time Grammy-winning song which repeatedly and very openly called out Drake.

Having an entire stadium sing along to the accusatory lyrics after Drake’s lawyers filed legal cases over the track was bold, to say the least.

While Noel might not have been watching, the rest of the world certainly was.
