‘One of the greatest British films made’ is finally on Amazon Prime Video
A real classic!

A Guy Ritchie movie branded one of the ‘greatest British films’ ever has quietly been added to the Amazon Prime Video slate, ready for fans to rewatch.
Snatch first hit the big screen in 2000, following the criminal goings-on in London’s underworld – including the hunt for a missing diamond, and the fixing of various boxing matches.
Jason Statham led the star-studded cast as Turkish, beside Stephen Graham, Benicio del Toro Mike Reid, Vinnie Jones, Lennie James and a scene-stealing turn from Brad Pitt.
Despite being released more than two decades ago, it has remained an absolute favorite of film fans all over the world – and sparked a spin-off series with Luke Pasqualino, Rupert Grint, Lucien Laviscount and Phoebe Dynevor.
Thankfully, we can catch up with Turkish, Tommy, Tyrone, Bullet Tooth Tony and co as Snatch is now on Amazon Prime Video for users in the US, as well as those in the UK.
The movie currently claims a huge Rotten Tomatoes score of 93%, compared to a critics ranking of 74%.
The iconic flick was directed by Guy Ritchie (Picture: Shutterstock)‘Guy Ritchie at his Guy Ritchiest,’ Paris V posted on the platform. ‘One of the greatest films ever made. Possibly my favorite movie.
‘It’s got action, comedy, drama, twists, and a long list of one-liners. – D’ya like dags? – No thank you, Turkish; I’m sweet enough. – It was two minutes five minutes ago.’
David B wrote: ‘One of the greatest British films made. Actors, script, direction .. everything SPOT ON. It’s worth watching more than once, which I very, VERY rarely say. Well done, Guy Ritchie!’
Midwest G agreed: ‘Guy Richie’s absolute best work. This is the platonic ideal of the genera that many movies have attempted to recreate but have not surpassed.
Jason Statham and Stephen Graham led the cast (Picture: Shutterstock)‘The dialog is razor sharp, the pacing is on point, and the story is magnificent.’
‘Guy Ritchie is at his best with this film,’ Gage Y insisted. ‘The comedy is never ending, the story is fast paced and absolutely insane, and the actors bounce off each other flawlessly.
‘The film absolutely bonkers in all of the best type of ways. 5/5.’
As Richard W added: ‘The kind of movie you can watch over and over and find something new to enjoy each time. A true classic.’
It has been described as ‘one of the greatest films ever made’ (Picture: Shutterstock)Snatch served as a reunion between filmmaker Guy and a string of the same actors from his previous movie, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels – including Jason, Vinnie and Alan Ford.
It turns out that Brad was a huge fan of the 1998 flick, and personally called the director, asking for a part in his next project – which is how bare-knuckle boxer Mickey O’Neil came about.
‘He called me and told me that he wanted to be part of whatever I was doing next,’ Guy previously told Esquire.
Reflecting on his career at that point, in a chat with Landmark Cinemas, the Ocean’s Eleven actor agreed: ‘At that time, I did something that I felt was very commercial, and I was really interested to see what new directors were doing and what was coming out.
Brad Pitt truly stole the show as boxer Mickey (Picture: Shutterstock)‘So, I was viewing everything of first-time directors, and I saw this movie, Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, by this cat named Guy Ritchie. And so, I called him up and said, “Hey, I really like what you’re doing, and if there’s anything that I could fit in, then let’s talk.”’
However, Brad was left panicking over the role as he couldn’t get a hang of the Irish dialect, leading to sleepless nights and a very interesting accent in the final cut.
‘The dialect is unintelligible, contrary to being trained to be clear and understood,’ he added. ‘And so, I was working on the accent and trying to be clear and understood, and it wasn’t working.’
He ended up leaving his lines as ‘unintelligible’ as possible, and the rest is cinematic history…
Snatch is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video now.
