Oscar-nominated actress vows to never present an award again after stage blunder
The awkward incident unfolded at the 2011 Baftas.

Rosamund Pike has revealed she now refuses to present any awards after an awkward blunder.
In 2011 the actress, best known for her starring roles in films including Gone Girl, I Care A Lot and Saltburn, was asked to hand out a gong at the Bafta Film Awards.
At the time the now 45-year-old was paired with Mamma Mia! star Dominic Cooper, 46 to present the best original screenplay at the ceremony on London.
However, she was left flustered when nearly announcing the winner before the nominees were even read out.
Visibly struggling to read the autocue, Rosamund at first joked that it would be a ‘really irritating story if I read out the wrong name but I won’t do that…’
But when she went to pre-emptively open the envelope, the event’s host Jonathan Ross rushed over to seal it shut so the nominees could be run through first.

After the clips played, the winner was then eventually announced by Dominic, with the award going to David Seidler for The King’s Speech.
Reflecting on what unfolded nearly 15 years later, Rosamund has admitted she was nervous about ‘being me’ on stage in front of a room of distinguished actors.
‘People assume I’d be quite good at that so sometimes I get asked to present. And now I never, ever, ever present (an award),’ she said on David Tennant Does a Podcast With…
‘It’s a simple job, it’s very hard to get it wrong. And I got it wrong. I opened the envelope before having read out the nominees.’
She went on to share that her mistake did however have a ‘brilliant’ outcome.
She said it gave her a good excuse to never do it again (Picture: Jordan Strauss/ January Images)‘(I thought,) I’m never ever going to be asked to do this again and I’m totally fine with that,’ she said.
Explaining her nerves, the actress said that while she feels completely comfortable performing in front of people in character, she ‘can’t bear’ going on stage as herself.
‘I get stage fright, I feel a fool and I don’t want to be there,’ she admitted. ‘And yet you give me a character and I feel totally free.’
In the interview with David, Rosamund also reflected on another awkward moment in her career.
Aged just 22, in 2002 she was cast as Bond Girl Miranda Frost alongside Pierce Brosnan, them 48, in Die Another Day.
However, when filming a sex scene, she thought she ripped the actor’s hair off his chest.
The award was eventually given to the film The King’s Speech (Picture: Weinstein Co/ UK Film Council/ See Saw/ Kobal/ Shutterstock)‘The time when we were doing the love scene, and I discovered things like nipple covers, and all the taping that you have, and we were in the ice palace,’ she said.
‘We had this glinch and then we separate, and I look at this body tape and nipple covers, and they are covered in hair and I think “Oh my god I’m waxing Pierce’s chest!”
“I was so mortified. I thought, ‘Oh my God, he’s so brave, and I’m pulling off his chest hair with every embrace.’
Rosamund then realised after ‘a couple of takes’ that ‘it was not him’ but ‘the fake fur of the rugs’ on the bed. ‘I literally thought I was waxing the poor man’s chest!’
