Previous Page Next PagePeppa Pig fans were left baffled by the ‘bonkers’ way Mummy Pig chose to announce her pregnancy.
The cartoon appeared on today’s Good Morning Britain where she exclusively informed 55-year-old presenter Richard Arnold that she was expecting her third child.
Viewers were questioning why Mummy Pig shared her pregnancy on the ITV news programme – with many genuinely concerned they were hallucinating while eating their cornflakes.
On X a baffled @dreurovision exclaimed: ‘Am I tripping? Why are they interviewing Peppa Pig?#GMB.’
Echoing their sentiment, @Cathaclysmal said: ‘I’ve clearly had too many decongestants with that flu. What on Attenborough’s green earth is going on here? #GMB.’
Yes, that is GMB’s Richard Arnold interviewing Mummy Pig (Picture: ITV)@Chloe_1509_ wrote: ‘I’m sorry but why am I watching Peppa Pig’s mum announce she is expecting a baby pig on a national news programme at 7.30am…. #GMB.’
Agreeing, @KellyBrownnnn shared: ‘Wtf is this Peppa Pig ‘announcement’ on #GMB this is disturbing.’
@GreyhoundGeezer also added: ‘This segment is bonkers. #gmb.’
During the highly unusual interview, Mummy Pig was interrupted by a hyper Peppa Pig as she shared her big news.
If you must know, she said: ‘I’m excited to share that our family is getting even bigger because we’re having another baby.
Richard asked the cartoon how she was feeling about the pregnancy (Picture: ITV)‘I’m due in the summer and we’re all so excited.’
A sincere Richard congratulated Mummy Pig on her upcoming arrival and asked the 2D cartoon how she was feeling.
She replied: ‘Thrilled. A little overwhelmed at the thought of having three children under five running around but mostly just completely delighted.’
Unfortunately for Mummy Pig not everyone will be as enthusiastic as Richard about her, um, pregnancy, namely Keira Knightley.
Last year, the Black Doves actress said the thought of watching more of the cartoon made her rethink having more children.
The 39-year-old is mum to two daughters Delilah, 9, and five-year-old Edie, who she shares with her husband, musician James Righton, 41,
Mummy Pig even showed her ultrasound scan to GMB viewers (Picture: ITV)On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Keira was asked by the host what sort of movies and shows her kids were currently tuning into.
‘They’re very cool right now. It’s really weird. They’re into like Studio Ghibli,’ she said, referencing the Japanese animation studio founded by Hayao Miyazaki and behind My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away and The Boy and the Heron.
She continued: ‘Beautiful things where you’re like, oh, this is just lovely, after seven years of Peppa Pig. You know?’
‘You know that thing where you’re like, “Oh, you know, they’re so nice, should we have another one?” she explained about deciding whether to expand her family.
‘And you think, “oh, yeah, I could do the pregnancy. I could even do the birth”. But I cannot watch any more Peppa Pig. It’s not going to happen.’
Peppa Pig first aired in 2004 on Channel 5 Milkshake and Nick Jr, and has since become available in more than 180 territories.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
