TV fans ‘deliriously overjoyed’ as series finally returns this week after 7 years

After seven years, comedy fans are ‘deliriously overjoyed’ as Dave Gorman: Modern Life Is Goodish returns in a matter of days

The comeback was announced last year, with fans excited to see it back on air with a series of new specials.

‘Absolutely loved MLIG and I’ve watched every episode multiple times. Cannot express how deliriously overjoyed I am about this news,’ wrote one fan on Reddit.

Another viewer hailed it ‘Dave’s best original show’ – although some people pointed to Taskmaster for that accolade – and a third person added: ‘Absolutely loved MLIG and I’ve watched every episode multiple times. Cannot express how deliriously overjoyed I am about this news.’

And a fan review on IMDb reads: ‘Dave Gorman: Modern Life Is Goodish is a show that points out the faults in modern life’s society and makes quite valid obscure statements and at times he has gone to some extreme measures just to prove his point which ends up been just as true as it is hysterical.’

On February 24, 2025, Dave Gorman: Modern Life Is Goodish will be back on UKTV channel U&Dave to start a series of three-hour-long specials as the stand-up comedian grabs his ‘computer, clicker and checked shirt’ to lampoon ‘areas of everyday life we normally take for granted’.

At its peak, the original show – which initially ran for five series on Dave – was pulling in 1.5 million viewers per episode.

In a press release, the network has promised the comedian’s ‘unique style combining stand-up, visual storytelling, and real-world experimentation’.

He will look to scrutinise ‘the absurdities and contradictions that continue to fascinate and infuriate him’, ranging from fake search engines to big tech’s rules.

Other topics being challenged include a reinventions of the alphabet, AT, honesty in television, the idea of celebrity, battling an online nemesis, leaving London and ‘assistance from an entertainment legend’.

‘I’m delighted to be getting back in the Goodish saddle,’ host Dave said in a statement.

‘It’s been 7 years since I hung up my Modern Life Is Goodish clicker and in that time, life has definitely got 7 years moderner – so there should be plenty to get my teeth into.’

And he recently revealed one rule he laid out for producers back when he was first discussing the original series.

‘If there’s something I really care about and I have a point to make, you’ve got to steer me away from it because the audience sniff sincerity and it stops being funny, he told The Guardian.

‘But then I get angry tweets from people who have intuited my politics, and they don’t agree with them. ‘Another one of you lefty remainers’ – point me to the bit where I said that!

‘I think what you’ve done is, there’s hopefully a kindness in it, and you’ve extrapolated from kindness and arrived at a worldview that you disagree with. That’s … weird.’
