Lorraine Kelly’s return to work has been confirmed after she underwent surgery to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes.

The 65-year-old broke the news from her hospital bed earlier this month, telling followers on Instagram that she would be having preventative surgery after a series of tests and scans.

She has since told fans the operation went well, having been discharged from hospital to recuperate at home.

Now, ITV has announced when we can expect to see her back on screens.

Lorraine will return to fronting her Bafta-nominated daytime programme this coming Monday, May 19.

She will be joined live on air by the show’s resident GP, Dr Hilary Jones, as she talks about her operation and recovery.

A statement added: ‘Women’s health remains at the forefront of the programme’s agenda-setting conversations, and Monday’s show will be no different, as Lorraine will shed light on the importance of ovarian health as well as the signs and preventative measures viewers can take in a bid to avert and overcome female cancers.’

Lorraine’s long-standing commitment to social purpose work recently saw her and the Change + Check Choir receive a royal invitation to perform in front of the King and Queen in acknowledgement of the show’s dedication to raising awareness for breast cancer.

The show also airs March4March and No Butts campaigns, which are broadcast in support of mental health and bowel cancer initiatives.

Lorraine’s work-related news follows her latest health update, in which she expressed her excitement to get back to her day job.

Earlier today, she shared a photo of herself up and about in a purple tracksuit with a big smile on her face, holding her granddaughter Billie.

Posing alongside her gynaecologist, she wrote: ‘I had my check up l today and the fabulous Ahmed Raafat says I can go back to work on Monday – as long as I take it easy. Billie obviously loved him.

‘Huge thanks to Mr Rafaat and his top team who’ve chosen to work here and help us – from countries like Croatia, Nepal and all over Europe, Africa and the Caribbean – what on earth would we do without you.’

The post left her fans and colleagues alike delighted, with Lorraine co-star Ranvir Singh posting: ‘Beautiful post LK,’ while Christine Lampard commented with three red hearts.

When she first shared the news of her surgery with fans on Instagram at the start of May, Lorraine explained: ‘Just wanted to let you know I’m having a wee procedure today.

‘I’ve not been feeling all that well for a little while, so I had some scans and tests, and I have to have my ovaries and my tubes taken out.’

‘It’s purely preventative,’ she continued. ‘It’s going to be with keyhole surgery, which is incredible.

‘I’m being very well looked after, and I’ll obviously see you really soon, and I’m gonna be totally fine.

Lorraine continues weekdays at 9am on ITV1 and ITVX.
