Ozzy Osbourne was nearly in Pirates of the Caribbean – but Sharon stopped him
Imagine what could have been?

Sharon Osbourne has expressed her regret at depriving the world of rocker Ozzy Osbourne as a pirate in the hit franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean.
The X Factor judge, 72, recalled the golden opportunity that came the Black Sabbath frontman’s way all those years ago.
As manager of the 76-year-music artist she was in charge of what he agreed to, and playing pirates with Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom was simply not on the cards.
‘Do you want to know the biggest mistake I ever made with Ozzy? He got offered to go and read for Pirates of the Caribbean and, I’ve never said this to anyone, and I said no,’ she revealed on The Magnificent Others with Billy Corgan.
Hindsight is 20/20 and now Sharon realises he would have been ‘perfect’ for the role.
‘Now wouldn’t he have been perfect?’ she asked Billy, who agreed.

Maybe it’s not too late, but God bless,’ before pointing to another rocker who made it on screen.
‘Because when Johnny [Depp] wanted Keith [Richards] to be a pirate, you remember?’ she recalled.
Although Ozzy never made it to Tortuga, he has been in several other TV shows and films including Austin Powers in Goldmember, Gnomeo and Juliet, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and 2016’s Ghostbusters.
There is rumoured to be a sixth Pirates of the Caribbean in development but it is unlikely the Prince of Darkness would make a cameo.

In a recent update, Sharon told the Sun: ‘He’s very happy to be coming back and very emotional about this. Parkinson’s is a progressive disease. It’s not something you can stabilise.
‘It affects different parts of the body and it’s affected his legs. But his voice is as good as it’s ever been.’
Meanwhile, the Crazy Train hitmaker added to SiriusXM: ‘I have made it to 2025. I can’t walk, but you know what I was thinking over the holidays? For all my complaining, I’m still alive.
‘I may be moaning that I can’t walk but I look down the road and there’s people that didn’t do half as much as me and didn’t make it.’
As for the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, which has grossed over $4billion (£3.1billion) worldwide, there is yet to be official confirmation that it is returning.
It’s unclear if the series will have a sixth film – and whether Johnny Depp will return (Picture: Disney/Kobal/Shutterstock)The current speculation is over whether Depp would reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow given his controversial history after he successfully sued his ex-wife Amber Heard for defamation after being accused of domestic abuse.
In December, Variety reported that one source confirmed ‘nothing has been ruled out’ in regards to his potential return.
Ironically, Ozzy has ruled out the Edward Scissorhands star playing him in a biopic about his life being developed by Sony Pictures.
He told Consequence: ‘I don’t want to have anyone like Johnny Depp act as me. I rather have someone who is relatively unknown.
“I don’t give a s**t. I mean, if it’s a hit, great. As long as it’s not too tongue-in-cheek and bulls****y, you know?’
