It’s a truth universally acknowledged that with a huge Hollywood event comes huge Hollywood style, and the 2025 Baftas did not disappoint.

Sure, there may have been fewer gobsmacking looks than we’re used to (you can thank the SNL 50th anniversary celebration in the US borrowing the majority of A-listers for that) but the ones who were there? Stunning.

It was a big night for winning films Conclave and The Brutalist, but on the red carpet we have our own winners, including Demi Moore, Colman Domingo and Ariana Grande.

So, who stole the show at the Baftas, held at London’s Royal Festival Hall, and left Metro’s entertainment editor Lucy Mapstone and deputy entertainment editor Alicia Adejobi absolutely gasping – and who was our favourite?

Ariana Grande

It was Ariana’s big night, as the pop icon-turned-Hollywood heavyweight came to down to London thanks to her Bafta nomination for her role as Glinda in Wicked.

She may not have scooped the prize, with the best actress in a leading role gong going to Emilia Perez star Zoe Saldana, but she certainly won one of the top red carpet accolades of the night.

The 31-year-old star opted for a divisive look that erred on the side of candyfloss, but pulled it off perfectly, giving a nod to her Wicked character in a powder pink and black custom gown by Louis Vuitton.

A combination of sexy and girlish with a dash of Golden Age of Hollywood thrown in, the deep V-neck gown featured the most ostentatious skirt of the 2025 awards season yet, a huge peplum-style affair that could knock over anyone in her path.

Zoe Saldana

Bafta winner Zoe, who scooped the leading actress prize for Emilia Perez, went full vamp in her Saint Laurent gown.

Another structural wonder, the black lace and slightly sheer dress was given a shot of endorphins with its dramatic, OTT collar, fanning out across her shoulders and chest and adding several inches of volume to her top half.

Without this explosion of lace at the top, the garment could have been described as lacklustre, but this clever design detail put the 46-year-old star truly on the fashion map at this year’s Baftas.

Also nominated for an Oscar, you’ve got to keep your eyes peeled for Zoe -we predict maximum impact at the LA ceremony in just a few short weeks’ time.

Demi Moore

We need a minute to comprehend what we witnessed last night, because Demi’s Bafta dress was one of the most showstopping looks we’ve seen all awards season so far.

The Substance icon, 62, sported a jaw dropping custom Alexander McQueen gown, a halter neck backless affair covered in sparkling jewels in a stained glass window style.

It was certainly the most unique look of the night, and couldn’t be pulled off by just anybody, but Hollywood royalty and eternally youthful Demi was made for this dress. Well, this dress was made for her, and it showed.

She may not have won the Bafta for leading actress, but she won our hearts for this absolute gem of a dress. Can she even top this at the Oscars? We’re not sure.

Selena Gomez

Out of all Selena Gomez’s awards season outfits so far, her Baftas look is a strong favourite of ours.

It was old Hollywood glamour in a chic way compared to the princess-style gown she wore to the Golden Globes. Selena, 32, shone to the fashion gods in a glitzy silver custom Schiaparelli gown that carved out her silhouette perfectly.

The plunging neckline with black off-the-shoulder sleeves was the most stunning finish to a timeless look.

Selena sparkled on the red carpet but her light was slightly dimmed after she missed out on winning the supporting actress Bafta to her Emilia Perez co-star Zoe Saldana.

Still, Selena clearly couldn’t be happier for her friend as the two were seen sharing a warm hug before Zoe gave her acceptance speech.

Cynthia Erivo

We are totally holding space for Cynthia Erivo’s look! The actress has been wearing some of the most extravagant creations on the lengthy Wicked press tour in recent months, so it was fabulous to see her switch into something much more demure and simplistic for the Baftas.

Last night she beautifully modelled a lace embroidered gown courtesy of Louis Vuitton, complete with a semi-sheer panel at the front. Forever living for Cynthia’s fashion choices.

Wicked walked away with two awards for costume design and production design but sadly, Cynthia, 38, and Ariana both missed out on scooping the golden trophies for leading and supporting actress respectively.

Colman Domingo

Just when you thought Colman Domingo couldn’t possibly outdo himself on the red carpet, he knocked it out of the park again.

The actor’s Baftas fit was probably more relaxed than what we’re used to seeing from Colman on the red carpet – think tailored suits in bold colours – but his look more than rose to the occasion.

Clad in full Versace, Colman, 55, flashed some chest cleavage in an unbuttoned silk-patterned shirt teamed with a long black leather coat and studded gloves a la Michael Jackson. The interior print of his coat could easily have clashed with his shirt, but they complemented each other perfectly.

Sadly, Colman’s success wasn’t as vibrant as his shirt as he lost out on the leading actor award for his performance in Sing Sing to Adrien Brody, was who recognised for his role in The Brutalist.

Saoirse Ronan – best dressed of the night

If we had to pick the most flawlessly-dressed star of the Baftas, it would easily be Saoirse, whose nearly alabaster-white mint green dress had us nearly weeping into our phones.

The Bafta nominee, who was up for the leading actress gong for her role in The Outrun, was the epitome of flawless in her clean and simple custom Louis Vuitton gown.

It was minimalist but with a maximalist edge, a scoop neck full-length dress with a structured wrap fitted around her arms and connected to the skirt like an envelope.

The 30-year-old icon completed her look with a slicked back bun and powerful red lip, and barely any jewellery save for a pair of delicate earrings. Perfection.
