What are the latest Eurovision 2025 odds ahead of tonight’s semi-final?

Tonight marks the first semi-final in the Eurovision Song Contest for 2025.

The competition is a legendary event in the TV calendar for any pop fan as the continent shows off its musical brightest and best on the worldwide stage.

Country-pop trio Remember Monday will be representing the UK with their ambitious and fun entry song, titled What the Hell Just Happened?

Last year, it was Switzerland’s Nemo, with their song The Code, who reigned supreme, giving the country its first Eurovision win since Celine Dion’s victory in 1988.

The UK’s Olly Alexander finished in 18th place last year – this year, Remember Monday will be hoping to land the UK’s first Eurovision win since 1997.

Here’s everything you need to know about tonight’s semi-final.

When is tonight’s semi-final?

The first of two semi-finals for the Eurovision Song Contest will air on iPlayer and BBC One, Radio 2 and BBC Sounds from 8pm on May 13.

The second semi-final will occur on May 15, before the Eurovision Song Contest final goes out live on Saturday, May 17 at 8pm.

This will give music fans almost a full week of musical action from May 13 to May 17.

The UK qualifies for the Eurovision final every year because it’s one of the ‘Big Five’ – five countries that get to the final without needing to qualify because they pay significant amounts of money to fund Eurovision.

The UK is in the Big Five alongside France, Germany, Italy, and Spain – the group was formed in the year 2000, with Italy joining last in 2011.

Every other country that enters Eurovision has to qualify for the final via the semi-finals – the shows on May 13 and May 15 will be dedicated to those countries trying to reach Saturday’s live final.

The latest Eurovision 2025 odds

Having won the Eurovision Song Contest seven times already, Sweden are once again the bookmakers’ favourites to take home the trophy in 2025.

Bookmakers are giving them a 41% chance of victory, despite the fact that their entry is being sung in Swedish, unlike their last three winning entries – Euphoria and Tattoo, both by Loreen, and Heroes by Mans Zelmerlow.

Closest to them in the bookmakers’ leaderboard are Austria and France, with a respective 19% and 6% chance of winning according to those watching closely.

The UK is currently a little further back, with UK bookmakers giving Remember Monday a slim outside chance of finishing in the top half.

According to UK bookmakers, they’re the 18th most likely country to lift the trophy. Meanwhile, Israel are the fourth most likely country to win being given by 5% odds.

Which European countries have confirmed their Eurovision entries for 2025?

Several countries have already confirmed their entries for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Among those who have already put their songs forward are Estonia, Iceland, Poland, Slovenia, Ukraine, Albania, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Croatia, and Norway all ready to compete in semi-final one.

Portugal, Sweden, Cyprus, and San Marino are also competing in semi-final one, with Sweden aiming to get through the semi-final and win their fourth Eurovision in the last 15 years.

How to vote in the semi-finals

If your country is competing in Eurovision, you can only vote in the Semi-Final in which they are performing.

Voting in this year’s semi-finals is a little complex for fans, who can choose to do so either by phone, SMS or the Eurovision Song Contest app.

For Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, who are automatically through to the Grand Final, they are each assigned a specific Semi-Final.

Voting opens after the last song has been performed and you are allowed to vote up to 20 times.

You will have roughly 18 minutes to cast your votes after the final performance.

In semi-final two, submissions have been made by Armenia, Australia (guest), Austria, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, Israel, Luxembourg, Malta, and Serbia.

The entry already catching the eye of the European public is Malta’s – their entrant Miriana Conte has a song called Kant, which translates literally to ‘Singing’ in English.

But in the song Miriana bends her pronunciation of the word ‘Kant’ in order to make it sound like an explicit English word that wouldn’t usually be broadcast on TV.

Who is the UK’s Eurovision entry for 2025?

The UK’s Eurovision Song Contest entry for 2025 was announced in early March. The Voice UK stars Remember Monday will be entering their song What the Hell Just Happened?

BBC radio DJ Scott Mills confirmed the news on his BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show at the time, giving the song its worldwide premiere before interviewing the trio – Holly-Anne, Charlotte, and Lauren.

In January 2025, Scott had teased that he was already very much aware of who the UK’s entry was going to be for Eurovision 2025 – and that he’d heard the song.

He said then: ‘By the way, I’m probably not supposed to say this – I heard our Eurovision song yesterday. Can’t say who it’s by, I can’t say… they locked me in a room.’

He promised fans, however, that the song was ‘good’ with millions hoping Remember Monday will perform better than Olly Alexander’s Dizzy, which finished 18th in 2024.

Speaking about the song, Remember Monday told the BBC: ‘What The Hell Just Happened is exactly how we’re feeling right now! It’s all very surreal.

‘Our friendship goes so far back, and we definitely never imagined that we’d be doing anything like this – the fact that we’re getting the chance to live that dream as three best friends is just wild.’

The UK came close to winning the competition in 2022 when Sam Ryder’s Spaceman was only beaten to the crown by Ukraine, ultimately finishing as runner-up.

It was also announced that Doctor Who and Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa will be announcing the UK’s jury results after the singing has concluded.
