One of the UK’s favourite comedians has announced he is quitting stand-up touring after his upcoming show.

Just a month after revealing that he is also stepping down from his radio show, comedian Rob Beckett has admitted plans to step back from stand-up tours to prioritise time with his children.

The funnyman, 39, has become a regular TV personality over the last decade hosting awards shows, such as the TV BAFTAs last year, and featuring on panel shows.

However, despite his soaring success touring with gigs, he told the Sun: ‘I’ll still do stand up and local clubs and charity gigs but I’m going to take a break from touring until the kids are 16/17.

‘Then I’ll do a big tour when they’re sixth form and when they go to Uni, me and Lou are going to spend Feb and March in Australia bumming around.’

The comedian also revealed that when he is 50 he wants ‘to do a psychology degree’.

The latest update on his career comes after Beckett announced he is quitting Radio 2 after he took over from Paul O’Grady, who stepped down in 2022.

A statement from him in February read: ‘I’ve had such a laugh each Sunday getting to know the listeners, but as my tour schedule hots up and my family forget what I look like, I’ve decided to step away from a weekly show.’

However, the comedian had promised fans that he would return.

He added: ‘But you won’t get away from me that easily as I’ll be back presenting shows on Radio 2 later in the year when normal service is resumed!’

Helen Thomas, Head of Radio 2, said at the time: ‘I’d like to thank Rob for his brilliant work every Sunday evening. He’ll stay within the Radio 2 family and will be heard on the station at a later date.’

Essex funnyman Beckett has two daughters with his wife Louise, who he married in 2015.

Last year, he received a BAFTA and Royal Television Society nomination for Rob & Romesh Vs, which features his regular collaborator Romesh Ranganathan.

He also competed in a one-off celebrity special of the BBC’s Gladiators show, alongside Joel Dommett, Ellie Taylor, and Louise Minchin, which aired on New Year’s Day.

Rob is currently touring the UK with Giraffe. Tickets:
