Hot rising star becomes latest performer to self-confirm for Glastonbury Festival 2025

It’s been a whirlwind year so far for Lola Young, thanks to her tune Messy going viral on TikTok.

And it seems 2025 is only set to get bigger and better, as the hot rising star has self-confirmed for Glastonbury.

Last night, the 24-year-old songwriter brushed shoulders with music royalty from Charli XCX to Sabrina Carpenter at the Brit Awards.

Then, while chatting to Sian Welby and Zeze Millz on the red carpet, the London-born performer dropped some exciting tidbits about what she’s got coming up.

‘What’s coming up next for you? Have you been knee-deep in the studio?’, Sian asked.

‘Yeah, I’ve been knee-deep in the studio finishing my second proper album, and then I’ve got a show on Monday, my headline show in London, then Coachella, Glastonbury… it’s wild.’

This will be the second time Lola plays at Worthy Farm, as she last performed there in 2022 in the dedicated dance music area, Silver Hayes.

As well as Messy, she’s also known for covering Together in Electric Dreams, which propelled her to prominence when it featured in the 2021 John Lewis Christmas ad.

Then, last year, Messy topped the UK Singles Chart.

She also released an album titled This Wasn’t Meant for You Anyway and toured the world playing to thousands of fans.

As for accolades, in 2021 she was nominated for the Brits rising star award and placed fourth in the BBC Sound of 2022 competition.

At this year’s Brits, Lola was up for best pop act, which went to Jade Thirlwall, known professionally as JADE, after her solo debut away from Little Mix.

Meanwhile, the lineup for Glasto 2025 is taking shape, with Neil Young confirmed as a Pyramid Stage headliner.

The first headliner to be announced, he had initially pulled out of the festival due to it being a ‘corporate turn-off’, saying: ‘We were told that BBC was now a partner in Glastonbury and wanted us to do a lot of things in a way we were not interested in.’

However, the Canadian star later backtracked, admitting there had been ‘an error in the information received.’

‘Happily, the festival is now back on our itinerary, and we look forward to playing! Hope to see you there!’ he wrote.

Sir Rod Stewart is also due to play Sunday’s Legends slot, following in the footsteps of artists such as Dolly Parton and Lionel Richie.

It comes after he previously headlined the event in 2022 alongside Coldplay and Stereophonics.

Sir Rod said upon his announcement: ‘I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that I’ll be playing Glastonbury 2025!

‘After all these years, I’m proud and ready and more than able to take the stage again to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury in June. I’ll see you there!’

Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis also wrote: ‘Bringing Sir Rod Stewart back for the Sunday afternoon slot on the Pyramid stage is everything we could wish for.

‘What a way to bow out with the final legends slot before we take a fallow year. We cannot wait!’

Other artists to self-confirm include Nile Rodgers and CHIC and Goldie.

The official Glastonbury lineup is usually revealed at the beginning of March, so we might not have long to wait until the poster drops. The full lineup then tends to land in May.

Rumours are, as ever, rife over who will take to the stage, with current bets being placed on Sam Fender and Olivia Rodrigo as headliners.
