Lady Gaga finally confirms sequel to iconic song after 15 years
Could our dreams finally be coming true?

The forces of the universe are aligning as Lady Gaga confirmed a sequel to her hit song Telephone ft Beyonce is in the works.
We can hardly believe it has been 15 years since these two titans of the music industry joined forces for the chart-topping tune (from 2009 EP Fame Monster) with an equally impressive 10-minute music video to match.
In the video, Beyonce bails Gaga out of prison and the two continue their murdering criminal enterprise, ending with the pair going on the run from the police in an epic cliffhanger and the words… ‘to be continued’.
In the intervening years our pop icons have been busy. Beyonce dropped her iconic surprise album Lemonade in 2016; shifted culture once more with her back-to-back releases of Reneissance and Cowboy Carter; and finally scooped up the Album of the Year Grammy.
And the Paparazzi hitmaker has gone through her own evolution, securing her place in music history for her 2013 album ARTPOP; co-leading A Star Is Born and Joker 2 and her 2024 single Die With A Smile becoming the fastest ever song hit 1 billion streams.
So, naturally, it’s time for Gaga and her Honey Bee to reunite for that long-awaited sequel.
The collaboration has gone down in pop history (Picture: VEVO) And Gaga and Beyonce could be reuniting (Picture: Vanity Fair)In a new interview for Vanity Fair’s Lie Detector Test ahead of the release of her 2025 album, MAYHEM, Gaga was asked if the music video will ‘ever be continued’ to which she hesitantly replied ‘yes’.
Unfortunately, the answers get less sure from there as when asked ‘when’ she says ‘I don’t know’.
And on whether Beyonce would be in it, she gave a cheeky smile as she said ‘maybe’ – although she firmly said ‘no’ to whether it was taking so long ‘because of scheduling conflicts’.
So we may be no closer to knowing the exact timeline, but at least we know it’s in the works.
And there’s plenty of excitement at the prospect of a musical reunion all these years later.
The end slate of the video teased there was more to come (Picture: VEVO)‘Someone finally asked about telephone part 2,’ NLeroyP8 commented.
‘The intern needs a raise for asking her about Telephone Part 2,’ @freud.officialmusic wrote.
‘This is what’s going to keep me going,’ pattykkot shared.
‘A cultural reset is close,’ twinktwinkb echoed.
‘I hope Stefani realizes we’re all hanging by a thread and this is no joking matter,’ George warned.
Some fans are worried that it may be another red herring, however, so only time will tell if her promise will come to fruition.
In an interview with E! News at the time, Gaga explained the resonant themes of the music video.
‘What I really wanted to do with this video is take a decidedly pop song, which on the surface has a quite shallow meaning, and turn it into something deeper,.
‘The idea that America is full of young people that are inundated with information and technology and turn it into something that was more of a commentary on the kind of country that we are,’ she said, per ABC news.
As for her upcoming year – there’s plenty for Gaga fans to look forward to. Alongside her new album, she’s also the host and musical guest on SNL next month and will headline Coachella.
And, just maybe, we might finally get the continuation everyone has been waiting for.
MAYHEM drops on March 7, 2025.
