Popular Brazilian singer Anitta, 31, will no longer be performing at Coachella 2025 due to ‘unexpected’ personal issues.

The Mi Amor hitmaker was due to perform on the two Saturday lineups on April 12 and 19 along with headliners Green Day, Charli XCX, and The Misfits.

Anitta, real name Larissa de Macedo Machado, rose to fame in 2013 after releasing her single Show das Poderosas.

She is now one of the biggest stars in Brazil, alongside Alok who she released the track Looking For Love with last year and is also performing at Coachella.

It would have been her third year performing at the huge festival, which takes place annually in the Colorado desert.

‘I was really looking forward to being at Coachella this year, but due to unexpected personal reasons, I won’t be able to perform,’ Anitta wrote on X.

‘I’m truly grateful to the festival for the invitation, their understanding, and continued support.’

The two-time Grammy nominee added: ‘I hope to have the opportunity to join you all in the future and share that special moment together.’

Anitta is often called the Queen of Brazillian Pop, with the most Billboard Hot 100 songs of any female artist from Brazil.

In 2022, her song Envolver broke through globally and she holds the Guinness World Record for being the first solo Latin artist to reach number one on Spotify’s Global Top 200 chart.

Her next scheduled performance is at Baja Beach Fest in Rosarito, Mexico in early August, which is believed to be going ahead.

Anitta has not shared any further details while fans sent her well wishes in response to the announcement.

The Coachella 2025 lineup features plenty of huge US and international names such as Lady Gaga, Post Malone, and Travis Scott as headliners with Green Day.

In a statement, Gaga confirmed her inclusion: ‘I have long dreamed of throwing a massive night of chaos in the desert. I’ve had a vision I’ve never been able to fully realise at Coachella for reasons beyond our control.

‘I have been wanting to go back and to do it right, and I am. I’m headlining and starting the weekend off at Coachella. Can’t wait to hear you all singalong and dance dance DANCE till we drop.’

Other notable artists include Missy Elliott and Megan Thee Stallion, as well as plenty of Latino acts including Alok, the Marias, Rawayana, and Mexican singer Ivan Cornejo.

However, last year marked a distinct fall in ticket sales as the festival failed to sell out its second weekend.

Coachella is famed for attracting huge numbers of celebrities, usually in weird and wonderful outfits, each year.

According to the LA Times, 2023 marked the first year in over a decade that both weekends didn’t sell out and 2024 sales were the slowest in a decade.

Last year Lana Del Rey, Tyler, The Creator and Doja Cat headlined the festival, while Skepta, Sabrina Carpenter, Blur, Grimes and Renee Rapp also performed.

Elsewhere Gwen Stefani hit up the stage for a huge reunion with her No Doubt bandmates.
