After tickets for Black Sabbath’s final ever show in Birmingham sold out within minutes, fans can expect a star-studded event.

The pioneering rock band formed in the 1960s and is helmed by Ozzy Osbourne, 76, as the lead vocalist.

Now the original line-up –  Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, 76 bassist Geezer Butler, 75 and drummer Bill Ward, 76 – are reuniting for the first time in 20 years for a farewell concert in their hometown, Birmingham, at Villa Park this summer.

The final show, poignantly called Back to the Beginning, will feature performances from a ‘supergroup of musicians, including Guns N’ Roses, Tool, and Rival Sons.

Also Slayer, Pantera, Metallica, Gojira, Alice In Chains, Halestorm, Lamb Of God, Anthrax and Mastodon.

And there on July 5 to present to host the whole experience is the one and only Hollywood icon Jason Momoa.

It’s no secret that the 45-year-old Aquaman star, who also plays the bass recreationally, is a longtime lover of the heavy metal genre.

He’s been found in the mosh pit at a Metallica concert, joined Slayer on stage for their farewell tour in 2019 and played a special part in the rollout of Osbourne’s 2020 studio album Ordinary Man.

The Black Sabbath frontman announced the gig on February 5, sharing: ‘It’s my time to go Back to the Beginning… time for me to give back to the place where I was born.

‘How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.’

It comes after the Paranoid hitmaker has been candid about his health issues, particularly related to Parkinson’s disease, in recent years.

His wife Sharon, 72, said the occasion is ‘very emotional but very happy’ and that ‘it’s time for Ozzy to say goodnight to everybody.

Speaking to Radio X Classic Rock, she added about his health: ‘Parkinson’s isn’t something that goes away. You have it forever; there’s no cure.

‘So, he has battles with it where, you know, he has to work with a physical therapist every day. And, you know, he’s got to keep his muscles going, and he’s fine. As fine as you can be with Parkinson’s, you know?’

And Osbourne himself offered a health update in a recent chat on SiriusXM, revealing that he ‘can’t walk’ anymore.

He said: ‘You know what, Billy, I go on about the way I can’t walk and I can’t do this, but you know what I was thinking over the holidays? For all of my complaining, I’m still alive.

‘I may be moaning about how I can’t walk as well … but as I look down the road, there’s people that didn’t do half as much as me, and they didn’t make it.’
