It has been alleged that the director of the Oscar-nominated movie The Apprentice, Ali Abassi is facing groping allegations.

The director of the Donald Trump biopic The Apprentice is reportedly facing allegations that he groped an A-list actor at a Creative Arts Agency’s Golden Globes after-party last month.

It has been alleged that he groped an actor who was also represented by CAA, and as of late January has parted ways with his representation at both CAA and Entertainment 360.

The director was reportedly asked to apologise to the actor by their mutual representatives, but sources claimed the filmmaker was advised to not contact the actor regardless of the agency’s wishes.

As reported by Deadline: ‘Events unfolded at CAA’s Golden Globes afterparty, where, sources said, an inebriated Abbasi aggressively groped an A-list, CAA-repped actor.’

The identity of the actor has not been revealed and Abbasi has yet to respond to these allegations.

Abbasi has not responded to allegations but previously told Deadline in an earlier statement: ‘I can confirm that I’ve made the decision to move in a new direction with my career.

‘I’m grateful for the work CAA and Entertainment 360 have done, particularly their commitment to The Apprentice, which remains a project I’m incredibly proud of.’

The Apprentice was released in October and follows the beginning of the US President’s career in the 1970s.

The film has been praised highly by critics and currently boasts a Rotten Tomatoes score of 83%.

The film has garnered attention at the film awards, earning Academy Award nominations for best actor (with Sebastian Stan who played Trump) and best supporting actor (for Jeremy Strong).

Abbasi previously commented that he was disappointed by the reaction to the biopic.

In an interview with the Playlist, the director said: ‘I’m disappointed and shocked about the reception in the US of The Apprentice. What I’m really shocked about is that the movie is being considered controversial,’ he said.

‘I’ve said this many times, I still don’t understand. I mean, you’re dealing with someone who is the encyclopedia entry of World Controversial, Donald Trump. I don’t know what’s controversial about the movie.’

‘Some of my other friends in Hollywood reached out to me saying that if you want us, we’re ready to do it,’ he added.

‘On the other hand, I was talking to Sean Penn yesterday. He was very nice. And started talking about the movie without me knowing.’

Metro has reached out to Entertainment 360, CAA, and Ali Abbasi’s UK representatives for comment.
