Glastonbury announces 29 new acts including ‘Britain’s oldest band’s’ last ever show

Glastonbury has made a rare Saturday announcement, confirming the first entire stage lineup for 2025’s festival including a farewell gig.
Surprising fans, Glastonbury dropped almost 30 extra artists as it revealed the full list of acts on the Acoustic Stage for each day of the festival.
This included The Searchers, who will be playing their final show after 68 years together, having formed in 1957.
They were contemporaries of The Beatles, rising to prominence in the 60s, making them one of the longest-running pop bands in the UK.
Age was a factor, according to guitarist John McNally, 83, and bassist-singer Frank Allen, 81, who told The Guardian it ‘slows you down a bit’.
Despite their longevity, ‘no one asked’ them to play Glastonbury before, with Allen adding: ‘The Searchers are finally performing at the greatest music festival of them all.

Earlier this month, the festival revealed its first phase lineup with headliners Neil Young, Olivia Rodrigo, and the slightly controversial The 1975.
Sir Rod Stewart will also take to the Pyramid Stage as the Sunday legend while Other Stage will be headlined by Loyle Carner, The Prodigy and Charli XCX — with fans already concerned about overcrowding.
Rumours are still flying about who is yet to be announced, with a self-confirm from US band Infinity Song confirming there was much more in store for Worthy Farm.

American folk-rock singer Ani DiFranco will take the Friday headline slot with sets from Gabrielle Aplin and The Searchers earlier in the day.
On Saturday, new wave artist Nick Lowe is last on the lineup after a day of Irish musicians, including Hothouse Flowers, The Coronas, and Lorraine Nash.
Roy Harper will close the stage on Sunday, following London Community Gospel Choir and The Bootleg Beatles.
This is only the seventh time ever that Glastonbury has made an announcement on a Saturday and the second earliest stage reveal ever.

Fans were excited by this fresh slate of artists as nostawsemaj wrote: ‘That’s a great festival without anything else.’

With 20 more stage posters to be revealed — including Avalon, Woodsies, West Holts and the Pyramid — festival season is well and truly on the way.
There are still some heavily rumoured names in the mix, with The Wombats appearing to add fuel to the fire at their O2 Arena gig.

Also rumoured are Sam Fender, Paramore (possibly solo Hayley Williams), Pulp, and McFly with a potential Busted stand-off.
Some stages have been confirmed on Nick Grimshaw and Annie Mac’s Sidetracked podcast, including a set from Annie herself.
Raye is heading back to the Pyramid Stage while Doechii is headlining West Holts — clashing with Charli XCX and Neil Young.
We’re less than 100 days until Worthy Farm opens its gates once more, and with resale tickets looming, Glastonbury feels closer than ever.
