The daughter of Celebrity Big Brother star Chesney Hawkes has broken her silence following backlash against the singer.

Chesney, who is best known for his 90s chart-topper The One and Only, has joined the likes of Jojo Siwa, Chris Hughes and Trisha Goddard in an action-packed Celebrity Big Brother house.

Drama has been front and centre so far, with Mickey Rourke evicted last week after causing immense furore for his unacceptable and inappropriate language and behaviour.

Now, Chesney’s daughter, Jesse, has spoken out after saying she feels that her father has been unfairly attacked when some fans criticised him for not calling out Rourke as he made vile homophobic comments towards Jojo.

The Hollywood actor, 72, made comments about JoJo’s sexuality, which left housemates and viewers equally stunned.

Speaking to The Mirror, Jesse said: ‘When Mickey said that thing to JoJo – and my dad had previously mentioned that I, his kid, am part of the community – a lot of people got mad at him for not speaking up.

‘But you don’t see everything,’ Jesse explained. ‘You see 45 minutes out of his 24 hour day and he’s the type of person who would have stepped in if needed. He would’ve spoken up.’

The university student went on to add: ‘I really don’t like people saying bad things about my dad on that topic or saying I’d be disappointed in him – because I wouldn’t.

‘It was making me upset seeing those comments because they don’t know what happened in there.’

Elsewhere in the Big Brother house, the third housemate to be evicted from was Daley Thompson.

After his fellow celebrities voted for EastEnders’ Patsy Palmer, 52, and Olympian Daley, 66, to go home on Thursday evening’s show, last night the public vote decided the sportsman’s time was up.

Presenters AJ Odudu, 37, and Will Best, 40, welcomed the star back to the outside world, as they reflected on their time in the house.

Calling his time ‘fantastic,’ Daley reflected: ‘I would have liked to have stayed longer but I was happy to come out.’

Celebrity Big Brother continues on ITV1 at 9pm.
