As well as gracing Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage, Neil Young has just been announced as an American Express presents BST Hyde Park headliner this summer.

On Friday, July 11, the Heart of Gold hitmaker will perform his biggest songs with his Chrome Hearts band.

Neil, 79, caused some confusion over his Worthy Farm plans earlier this year when he announced himself as a headliner before retracting that statement.

He then made another u-turn and confirmed he would in fact be playing after all, having received ‘an error in information’.

Thankfully, for BST, there’s no such confusion; he’s definitely headlining, and tickets will be on sale soon from March 5.

Joining him on the line up is Yusuf — also known as Cat Stevens — and Van Morrison for a legendary day.

Neil, who started his career in the 1960s, has bagged multiple Grammys across his career, as well as being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice: in 1995 as a solo artist and in 1997 as a member of his first band, the folk-rock outfit Buffalo Springfield.

He last played the Pyramid Stage in 2009, taking the Friday night closing slot, but his previous visit to BST was far more recent as he co-headlined in 2019.

The Revolution Blues singer was joint top billing with Bob Dylan, joking to the crowd he had ‘never played in daylight before’ as he went on first.

Neil recently announced he would be heading on his Love Earth World Tour across Europe and North America, as well as his festival shows.

On Valentine’s Day, Neil also released new music — well, new-ish as it was a ‘lost’ album first recorded in 1977.

The For What It’s Worth singer joins the likes of Sabrina Carpenter, Zach Bryan, Noah Kahan, and Olivia Rodrigo at the London festival.

Hugh Jackman was due to come to BST Hyde Park in 2025 but the 56-year-old performer has since had to cancel his show.

The huge Hollywood star has been replaced by a second show from Sabrina after the pop icon sold out her first night.

This year’s BST is also host to a very special final farewell concert for the iconic Jeff Lynne’s ELO.

After a trio of gigs — including a homecoming gig in Birmingham — Jeff will say goodbye to Electric Light Orchestra for good.

Tickets for Neil Young at BST Hyde Park go on sale 10am on Wednesday, March 5.
