WWE superstar Naomi has revealed her most embarrassing moment in wrestling after her wig came off in the middle of a match.

The SmackDown favourite, who faces United States Champion Chelsea Green in an Elimination Chamber qualifier on tonight’s show, was wrestling in Italy during a European tour in May 2024 when her hairpiece came unglued.

Speaking exclusively to Metro, Naomi explained that while she usually ‘braids all her hair’ and sews her wig in, she was feeling ‘lazy’ and decided to ‘glue it down the front’.

‘It was so hot in the arena that I was sweating so much. So the sweat, it makes the glue – I can’t believe I’m telling you all this,’ she laughed,

‘See, now y’all gonna know the hair tea. So basically, the glue, the adhesive, all started to come up, because I was sweating profusely. And I remember we went to do the the six-girl suplex spot, and my wig caught onto Kairi’s gear somehow.

‘So when we went to suplex them, my wig was on Kairi’s gear, and the whole wig just freaking pulled off!’

She quickly tried to alert her tag partners Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill, but her opponents didn’t realise what had happened.

‘Baby, the wig was off the whole match. I did the whole match like this [with my hand on my head], crossbodies off the top, holding my wig, fighting for my life,’ she howled.

‘The other girls don’t even know what’s going on,’ she said. ‘They don’t know, like, “don’t grab the wig”. I was trying to tell them, but it was so much going on, it was a mess!’

When she got backstage, her fellow stars and the crew were ‘cracking up’, and Naomi revealed it’s actually one of fellow wrestler R-Truth’s favourite stories, with everybody wondering why she didn’t ditch the wig and keep going.

‘It was like, “you should’ve just thrown it and hit her with it”. I’m like, “uh-uh”, because it was not supposed to come off like that,’ she explained, while everyone thought she had a lucky escape until the ‘most embarrassing moment’ went viral on X days later due to the time difference.

‘The video is out there. That b*****d, whoever posted that. I’m just kidding. I don’t care,’ she smiled.

WWE superstars have to get used to the unpredictability of live TV, but Naomi thinks losing her wig ‘takes the cake’ when it comes to her own career.

‘I don’t think anything other than a wardrobe malfunction or a slip – to me that’s the only thing that could top that. So thank goodness that hasn’t happened,’ she said.

‘I made it all these years without my wig coming off! I mean, I think I had a good run. It was a hell of a run. So now I make sure I have that thing glued, stapled, packed, everything.

‘She ain’t coming off – at least it was on live TV that would have been then I would have just had to roll with it. That just would have been the new gimmick!’

Tonight, Naomi takes on Chelsea Green with a spot in the Elimination Chamber up for grabs, and she hopes to qualify for the big show on March 1.

Whoever ends up in that match will be feeling it for a while after, as she said: ‘You’re definitely beat up and sore after for days, sometimes weeks.’

However, it’s all worth it for the stars in the ring.

Naomi beamed: ‘It’s so exciting. And that’s what I love most about [the Chamber], the challenge of like, what am I going to do this time? What is she going to do? What do I got to look out for?

‘How is this match going to be different from our last Chamber match and just pushing ourselves to elevate each time?’

Elimination Chamber airs on Netflix on March 1. WWE returns to London’s O2 Arena for SmackDown (March 28) and Raw (March 31).
