Amazon Prime Video viewers have admitted they are watching a ‘captivating’ political drama over and over again.

They are urging everyone to head to the streaming platform after it recently added the first season of mid-00s drama Boss for Prime subscribers.

Boss stars Frasier legend Kelsey Grammer, 70, as the mayor of Chicago, Tom Kane, who has recently been diagnosed with Lewy body dementia, which he is concealing from his team as he presses on with his political career.

Also among the cast are British popstar Jessie Ware’s older sister Hannah Ware, as Tom’s estranged daughter Emma Kane and Connie Nielsen as his wife, Emma.

On Google, Boss fans have described the show as ‘one of the best ever seen on TV.’

Nikki Miller enthused: This show is AMAZING!!!! A true 5 star! I wish the series was still on because I put it up there with Dexter and Breaking Bad. This show had everything: Sex, drugs, hot actors, a great script, Kelsey Grammar (P.S. I love his play-on name b/c he does speak English so well!), politics and the list goes on. If you haven’t seen it, you need to watch it.

Echoing their sentiment, Jim C raved: ‘Boss is one of those shows you cannot get enough of. The super amazing and talented cast led by Kelsey Grammer – I wish that someone pulls back this show and see a third season. I recommend this show to all the people I know. It’s excellent.’

Marion Oneil said: ‘This show is amazing the characters are really convincing, Kelsey Grammer is the best in this. One thing I can say is you cannot mess with the mayor, the way how he gathered them up all together priceless. The payback for being backstab, lied to cheating and going behind his back, everyone is getting what they deserve.’

Letitia Davison added: ‘One of the best shows ever seen on TV! The cast awesome and I love getting to know how city government works at its best and worst. I could watch this show over and over for years to come. Too bad it just couldn’t last past two seasons. Too bad, because the writers are geniuses, and this show could have been another Law and Order SVU and last til eternity. Every actor portrayed was my favorite, and every storyline was captivating.’

Boss first aired on Starz in 2011 and ran for two seasons before being cancelled in 2012.

The TV show is not the only programme on Amazon Prime video being hailed as ‘one of the best of all time.’

Timeless stars Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, and Malcolm Barrett as a team tasked with stopping a shady terrorist organisation that steals an experimental time travel machine to disrupt the course of history.

It originally aired on NBC nearly a decade ago and was cancelled after one season. Three days later, after negotiations with production company Sony, it was renewed for season two.

The ten-episode second season premiered in 2018 but was axed again for the last time. It concluded at the end of that year with a two-part finale.

On Google, viewers have spoken breathlessly about Timeless, which was described as ‘exceptional’ and the ‘best’ example of a sci-fi TV show.

Among them is Todd Smith, who exclaimed: ‘Timeless is one of those shows that was so ahead of its time that it was largely unappreciated for just how good it was. A devoted cult following managed to keep it alive for a second season and wrap up movie, but with all it had to offer, this show should have gone far beyond that.’

Agreeing, Johnny McDobbsy enthused: ‘To jump right into it, I love time-travelling science fiction. I’ve seen pretty much all of the best in that genre—from both film and television—and this particular series definitely surprised me. It’s got EXCEPTIONAL, highly creative writing. It has great effects for its budget, and also for the time during which it was released.’

Boss is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
