WWE superstar Chelsea Green has revealed she’s ‘shared some words’ with Nikki Bella amid rumours of a WrestleMania return.

The 41-year-old Hall of Famer , who the current Women’s United States Champion has hailed as a ‘trailblazer’ after a storied career alongside twin sister Brie, hasn’t wrestled a singles match on Raw or SmackDown since 2018.

Fans have been clamouring for a comeback after her return at the 2025 Royal Rumble last month, and Chelsea exclusively told Metro she’d be thrilled to be part of it.

‘I’ve shared some words with Nikki Bella,’ she teased when we brought up the former champ. ‘I feel like… look. We’ve had a friendship for years, now maybe it is time to step in the ring and square off, face off.

‘I don’t know! Vegas and WrestleMania in Las Vegas is just so special, because I think anything could happen.

‘We really don’t know right now, we’re on the Road to WrestleMania! We don’t know where this is going to go, what storylines are going to be put into place.’

She added: ‘I feel like the people want it. So, should we give them what they want?’

Nikki’s last televised one-on-one match came in October 2018 when she lost to Ronda Rousey in the main event of Evolution, which was the first – and so far only – all-women’s premium live event in WWE history.

Top SmackDown star Chelsea praised her potential opponent’s impact on women’s wrestling as she and others helped turn the tide and lead what would become known as the Women’s Revolution.

‘She looks amazing,’ she said, reflecting on Nikki’s Rumble return. ‘And she’s been such a a pivotal woman in this women’s evolution, and and the Give Divas a Chance movement.

‘She was kind of a trailblazer! So I just think having her back is, really, a gain all around for the women’s division.

I mean, can you imagine if on April 19 or 20th, we saw Nikki Bella in Las Vegas, on the grandest stage of them all? I would be watching as a fan, whether I was in the ring with her or not!’

The US Champ also agreed that AJ Lee would be a perfect fit to face Chelsea given the latter’s Hot Mess character.

‘I mean, AJ is another one that she really laid some incredible groundwork for women in wrestling, and women to have storylines that mattered,’ she added. ‘So, having her back would also be incredible.’

However, she was also keen to shine the spotlight on the current roster, including the ‘incredible talent’ making waves in NXT as they work their way up the ladder.

‘I can’t help but think of all the unbelievable women that we have on the roster right now that we could use,’ she said earnestly.

Chelsea also had high praise for rising star Sol Ruca (Picture: WWE)

‘I haven’t even met half of you guys [in NXT], and I can tell there’s just so many incredible talents.’

One of those rising stars is Sol Ruca, who accidentally left the champ with a busted nose last week on NXT when she and Zaria beat Chelsea and Piper Niven.

‘That’s a woman right there that I could totally see her going up and thriving on the main roster,’ she said, before giving an update on her injury.

‘As you can see, my nose is intact, it was not broken. It did bleed, like – my goodness, like a fire hydrant! But we’re good. I sound a little nasally, but look, I’ve still got my championship sitting there on my bed.’

That championship is more than just a prop on television for Chelsea, who became the inaugural United States Champion late last year, and wants to use her platform to raise everyone up.

‘I always want to be able to elevate the women in the division. You know, I’ve been doing this now 11 years. There’s a lot of women that helped me and paved the way for me and elevated me,’ she smiled.

‘Michin was one of them at the very beginning of my career. She really, really helped me. Gail Kim helped me. All the women on Total Divas set the set the tone for us.

‘So, now it’s my turn.’
