Amazon Prime viewers losing ‘one of the greatest films of the era’ in days
The 'mesmerising' thriller was nominated for multiple Oscars.

Amazon Prime Video is about to lose an Oscar-winning, highly praised film that had fans ‘enthralled’ by its gripping nature as it’s removed from the streaming platform in a matter of days.
Anatomy of a Fall, released in 2023 after premiering at Cannes Film Festival – where it won the top prize of the Palme d’Or – was a word-of-mouth sensation upon release.
The French legal thriller opened ahead of Oppenheimer at the French box office and grossed several times its $6.7million (£5.1m) budget after raking in $36m (£27.7m).
Anatomy of a Fall also clinched the best original screenplay Oscar, as well as being nominated for four more, including best picture and director, and boasts a massive 96% critics rating on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.
Directed by Justine Triet, the film follows Sandra, a woman who is the main suspect in her husband’s suspicious death – presumed murder – after his body is found in the snow beneath their chalet in the French Alps.
As she goes on trial, the audience takes an unsettling psychological journey into the depths of Sandra and Samuel’s conflicted relationship.

Upon release, the movie received rave reviews, being dubbed ‘mesmerising’ and ‘one of the strongest courtroom dramas in recent memory, and so much more’.
The National proclaimed it ‘one of the greatest films of the contemporary era’ while the New Statesman’s review observed: ‘Anatomy of a Fall works brilliantly as a Hitchcockian thriller for today, but it has depths and resonances beyond the genre.’
Subscribers keen to watch it will have to prioritise it though, as it will be removed from Amazon Prime Video on Friday, March 28.
Despite Anatomy of a Fall’s potentially tricky 150-minute run-time, fans have also gushed over its brilliance.
‘Riveting! Like watching a train wreck in slow motion!’ enthused Laurie alongside a five-star audience review on Rotten Tomatoes, while Brent M added: ‘Phenomenal writing, filmmaking, and performances will leave me thinking about this film for quite some time.’
‘So gripping. 150 minutes, and it wasn’t just the subtitles that kept me bound to the screen. Fantastic acting, and man, what a screenplay. It deserved every one of those (major) screenplay awards that it won,’ shared Ken T.
The film was dubbed ‘gripping’ and ‘phenomenal’ (Picture: Neon via AP)‘Captivating from start to finish,’ chimed in Raven S, while on Google Karleen Swarztrauber marvelled at ‘storytelling at its finest’.
‘One of the best crime thriller court room movies. It delivers a riveting cinematic experience with its impeccable screenplay,’ shared Balaji Chinnaraj, who also called the acting performances ‘standout’.
Anatomy of a Fall is streaming on Amazon Prime Video until March 28.
